Greetings to all those enthusiastic hand crafters (or potential handcrafters) out there!
Spring has sprung! The weather is glorious with warm, sunny days and the gardens are coming to life with new colours as a multitude of flowers are opening; even the birds are chirper in the mornings. What an absolute joy!
My students have been working hard. The Jacobean cushion has been sewn up and looks incredible. This same student is now taking on the challenge of knitting her first jersey for her granddaughter. My crochet student is coming on in leaps and bounds – now tackling her first granny squares.
I have almost completed Week 9 of 13 of my Klein Karoo -Die Outshoorn Rewolusie project and I am very chuffed with how it is looking. It is still in several pieces, but Week 10 sees these being crocheted together into a blanket. What a lovely journey this has been! Thank you ladies of the Klein Karoo for putting this pattern together so beautifully.
I have begun making a needle holder. The purpose of this is create a sample that my students can copy. The idea behind this needle holder is to learn as many different embroidery stitches as possible and in the process to make a useful item. I am loving sewing stitches I last did many moons ago.
Lessons are in full swing and now that we are in level 2 of the Covid lockdown protocols, I have decided to allow small classes again. Join me if you want to learn a new skill and meet some like-minded friends! Be inspired. Begin a new project. Contact me if you are interested in crocheting, knitting or doing some hand embroidery.
