Greetings to all those enthusiastic hand crafters out there!
We are into the last month of winter here in Johannesburg and although the trees are barren and the grass is yellow, we can anticipate the warmer weather in just a few weeks! It’s not long to go now!
My students have been working hard. One has finished her first Jacobean embroidery and her work is ready to be sewn up into a gorgeous long pillow. Another has completed her Hippy Beetle and it is at the framers being made into a box for her husband. He is going to be delighted with it. I am so proud of what these ladies have achieved. A new student started crochet lessons and is adjusting to the feel of the hook and thread and she attempts the different stitches.
I am working on a crochet project from the Klein Karoo – Die Outshoorn Rewolusie. It has been a week by week crochet-a-long (CAL) which I joined. I am hopelessly behind schedule, but alas, I am using up loads of scrap wool to create something warm and cosy. I am enjoying the journey as I go. I have also started embroidering an African Pangolin for my son’s 21st, but because I don’t want to risk him seeing it before the time, I will not be sharing photos of this with you yet.
This week I got my Jacobean tea cosy back. I am very chuffed with the it. Thank you Anita Bowyer for sewing it up so beautifully for me!
Lessons are in full swing although I am only doing individual lessons at the moment because the Covid numbers are so high in Gauteng. Join me if you want to learn a new skill! Be inspired.
