Greetings fellow hand crafters!
It’s almost Christmas and work is winding down. It is hot and the days are long. Everyone is in a festive mood and looking forward to being on holiday. My classes are ending off for the year and my students have been busy finishing projects, many as gifts.
I have embroidered another two the quilt designs of Colleen Goy’s (loosely based on William Morris patterns). I am looking forward to seeing the finished blanket now. I think the longer one works on something, the more keen you are to see it done!
Now to share with you what some of my students have been doing: Eleanor Peake embroidered a set of three cushions with a grass theme. They are absolutely beautiful and were sewn up beautifully by seamstress Delene Wolfe-Coote.
Bohlale Letlhaka, an 11 year old, started crochet lessons just a month ago and she is an absolute natural. At her second lesson she produced these two granny squares in just an hour! I was uber impressed. What a star!
Sue Theron has been crocheting a blanket (Hooked on Sunshine by Vanessa Smith). It is almost finished and looks magnificent. The colours have worked out so well. Her husband is going to be the recipient of this masterpiece. He’s a very lucky guy!
Conor Hughes has been working on her series of acrylic paintings, to which she adds some embroidery to highlight the focal points. I share with you the latest two. They are magnificent.
Narayani Mahale learned to follow a pattern and crocheted herself a shrug. She then went on a crocheted a jelly fish and then a bag for friends.
I give lessons at Ribbonsfields in Bordeaux every Thursday morning, so if Kyalami Estates are too far for you, please consider this option. Lessons at Kyalami are on Wednesday and Friday mornings and Tuesday afternoons every alternate week. I’d love you to join me so I can share my passion for crafts with you!
