Greetings fellow hand crafters
As the days get shorter and cooler, it is the perfect time to get out those crochet hooks or knitting needles. After a long gap, I am finally back. We have been busy with house renovations, and so I have not had nearly enough time to sit at my computer and chat to you all.
The haberdashery side of Threads of Joy is coming on in leaps and bounds, with stock arriving each week. I now have quite a number of the Chameleon hand-dyed stranded threads available as well as the DMC threads . I am also stocking Roseworks Embroidery kits. So, if you are needing items, especially for your embroidery projects – from threads, to sewing needles, to embroidery hoops, to scissors please give me a call. I am selling them at very competitive prices. If I don’t have the items in stock, I will try my best to get them for you.
I continue to work on the embroidery of indigenous wild flowers by Salli van Rensburg. I have loved the variety of stitches and colours this work has involved. It is almost complete. Salli has just left for Australia and I wish her all the best as she starts her new life closer to her children and grandchildren. I will miss her. My students have been so inspirational. One is making an arty cushion, partly with applique and partly with embroidery. It is coming along magnificently. Currently she is working on a Black-Coloured Barbet as the main feature of the cushion. I am so excited to see the finished product. Another student is both knitting a jersey for her granddaughter as well as learning to crochet. The gorgeous pink jersey is coming along beautifully and should be ready for winter. Her idea with the crocheting is to make cotton cloths to use as gifts. They will be lovely. Another student is challenging me to teach her a new crochet stitch every time I see her!
