Greetings fellow hand crafters
HAPPY NEW YEAR to you all. Let’s hope it’s a productive year in which we get all those loose ends tied on unfinished projects and get inspired with beautiful new works of art whether in thread or material or with yarn. Let’s get those fingers moving and those creative juices flowing!
Remember the big new I announced in December? I am now stocking a variety of embroidery items – from DMC threads, to sewing needles, to embroidery hoops, to scissors and much more. Please give me a call if you need any of these items. I am selling them at very competitive prices.
So what have I been up to over December? I decided to make some bowl covers as Christmas gifts for the ladies in my family. They were simple to make and since it means we are saving the planet one sheet of plastic at a time, I figured, they were good, “green” gifts to give. Each lady got a set of two – one for a salad bowl and one for a lasagne-type dish.
I was working on some poufs for my daughter. The first one is completed. I am relatively happy with it, although when you sit on it, you are very low to the ground. I think the second one needs to be at least double the size. That is going to take a LOT of stuffing to fill!
The other project, that I have only just begun, is a large cushion with an array of indigenous flowers. It is one of Salli van Rensburg’s embroidery designs and it will look stunning when it is complete. Pictures will follow in the next newsletter. It was wonderful having this work to do in the Drakensburg over the December holidays while the boys were out fishing!
