Hope you are well and enjoying your knitting, crocheting or embroidering around a heater or fireplace as you keep warm in this very cold weather!
My cushion covers are almost completed, and I will share pictures of these with you in my next newsletter. I have however, finished working on my Sashiko embroidery. I am quite pleased with the result. Sashiko is a Japanese craft, and it creates beautiful geometric patterns on cotton material. I will frame my work, but these patterns can be used to embellish clothing for example.
Two of my students have produced the most incredible works of art. They are both Hazel Blomkamp’s patterns. My students, Eleanor Peake and Amanda Phyffer’s embroidery work is of the highest standard and as a result their creations are masterpieces that they can truly be proud of. Eleanor embroidered Roger the Rhino and Amanda embroidered Maureen the Owl. I am immensely proud to be their teacher! Well done ladies!
A group of ladies came to me for a series of just four crochet lessons. They are on a mission to learn all sorts of skills this year; one of them being to crochet. We had lots of fun on Monday evenings. I tried to teach one new technique each week ranging from granny squares, to corner-to-corner crocheting, to a basket weave to a puff stitch. I share with you some of their results. All the best with your endeavours for the rest of the year, Karen Kruger and Co!
I give lessons at Ribbonsfields in Bordeaux every Thursday morning, so if Kyalami Estates are too far for you, please consider this option. Lessons at Kyalami are on Wednesday and Friday mornings and Tuesday afternoons. Lessons run every alternate week. I’d love you to join me so I can share my passion for crafts with you!
