Greetings fellow hand crafters
Spring has sprung! The gardens in Johannesburg are looking stunning with flowers blooming, lush green lawn and birds singing. This is definitely my favourite time of the year.
Firstly let me share with you some of the work my students have been up to. Marina Smit has just learned to knit and she has made some booties and beanies for babies for a charity. They are too precious for words! Sue Theron has continued with her applique and embroidery designs for the aprons she is making as gifts. They are gorgeous! Carol Jones is almost finished her first embroidery. It is looking beautiful. I am so proud of my students; all of them.
I’ve done some travelling around our beautiful country – to the Namaqualand and the Karoo . During this time, I managed to finish my jersey and we have had a few cold snaps so I’ve even been able to wear it. I thoroughly enjoyed following the Drop Designs pattern and loved using my new Addi Click circular needles. It certainly makes a change doing a jersey in one piece! While travelling I also worked on my Jacobean embroidery. It is almost complete. The question is what to do next?
As a reminder, I am giving lessons at Ribbonsfields in Bordeaux every second Thursday morning, so if Kyalami Estates are too far for you, please consider this option. Lessons at Kyalami are on Wednesday and Friday mornings and Tuesday afternoons every alternate week. I’d love you to join me for lessons!
